based on the original song "American Pie" by
Don MacLean
---------
A long long time ago
I can still remember, how the Rebbe man would always smile.
And every time he had his chance he'd make those balay tshuvah dance
and maybe they'd farbrengen for a while.
But the Rebbe didn't last us; in '94 he passed us.
The Ohel was packed, with Chasidim wearing Black Hats.
I can’t remember if I cried the day the Rebbe physically died
But he’s still with us deep inside ‘cause the Rebbe’s still
alive.
Yichi Adoneinu Moreinu V'Rabbeinu Melech Ha'Moshiach L'Olam Va'ed…It’s
been quite a few years since the Rebbe said spiritually I’ll never
be dead, spiritually I’ll never be dead.
Well do you know the Rebbe’s age and did you know that he never
shaved?
Because it’s beged Esha.
And do you believe that he’s Moshiach, and to Yirushalyim he will
bring us?
Or will 770 Lubavich HQ’s have to do?
Well I know he always wore Tefillin, and of course he was always
willin’ to help another Jew oh he lived for me and you!
Well he never went around telling lies, no farbrengen if no apple
pies.
And there still around a bunch of guys who think the Rebbe’s still
alive
They’re always singing Yichi Adoneinu Moreinu V'Rabbeinu Melech
Ha'Moshiach L'Olam Va'ed It’s been quite a few years since the
Rebbe said spiritually I’ll never be dead, spiritually I’ll
never be dead.
Been more then 10 years since he had his unfortunate stroke, on Simchas Torah
during HaKafos
Spent the rest of Yom Tov in his office
And every Sunday rain or sunny, he’d be out there giving out money
Dollar bills to tzedakah
Well he’s the one that we owe thanks, for getting rolling on the
mitzvah tanks
And the tefillin booths he helped so many Jews!
He specialized in the field of ger for every Jew he did care
and he didn’t even leave an heir, because he’s still alive.
So we’re singing Yichi Adoneinu Moreinu V'Rabbeinu Melech
Ha'Moshiach L'Olam Va'ed It’s been quite a few years since the
Rebbe said spiritually I’ll never be dead, spiritually I’ll
never be dead.
There’s a Machlokes on weather he was buried
But everyone agrees that he was married, Chaya Mushkeh was her name
And in the Ohel buried alone, lies the previous Rebbe Olahva Shalom
Right next to a telephone.
Two pairs of Tefillin he put on, Rashi and Rabanu Tam
He was a Talmud chuchem no other was like him,
He was a single teenage Lubavich dude, ‘till Chaya Mushkeh said,
“I do”
He was a famous man and a holy Jew, and he’s sill alive
So now we’re singing, Yichi Adoneinu Moreinu V'Rabbeinu Melech
Ha'Moshiach L'Olam Va'ed It’s been quite a few years since the
Rebbe said spiritually I’ll never be dead, spiritually I’ll
never be dead.
He’s the one that did tell the Jews in Eretz Yisrael
That the Persian Gulf war was nothing big.
The Rebbe was humble the Rebbe was slick, always knew the right
choice to pick
Ani ma’min
Was just as bright as any Amorah, Lubavich has written many Sifrey
Torah
Kfar chabad in Israel
Was always there in any health condition, and people asked him for
permission, because we’re on a holy mission TO BRING MOSHIACH NOW!
So we’re singing, Yichi Adoneinu Moreinu V'Rabbeinu Melech
Ha'Moshiach L'Olam Va'ed..It’s been quite a few years since the
Rebbe said spiritually I’ll never be dead, spiritually I’ll
never be dead
To other G-ds he said don’t bow, we want Moshiach now
who that’s referring to we're not quite sure
At the farberngen he made kiddush, then he said a dvar torah in
Yiddish, and yes there's a differnce between a farbrengen and a Tish.
And now in the Rebbe’s home, we all sing Yichie alone. Even though
they’re waiting, they have a large popularity rating.
And the Rebbe I admired most, lived in his home on the east coast.
I can’t see him so I guess he’s a ghost. But of course he’s
still alive
so now we’re singing
Yichi Adoneinu Moreinu V'Rabbeinu Melech Ha'Moshiach L'Olam Va'ed
It’s been quite a few years since the Rebbe said spiritually
I’ll never be dead, spiritually I’ll never be dead.
Yichi Adoneinu Moreinu V'Rabbeinu Melech Ha'Moshiach L'Olam Va'ed
It’s been quite a few years since the Rebbe said spiritually
I’ll never be dead.
