Just an FYI – KOE, Kehllath Orath Eliezer(th), the first laidback progressive orthodox minyan on the upper west side (think Hillel House w/o the college students) has moved out of its home at the 102nd street hostel and set up shot on the 2nd floor of the Dorot Building on 85th street. (171 West 85th Street). Might be worth it to check out the new digs…
The shul, which is grounded on "service to others, and serious davening" has definitely seen its decline in shulgoers, who probably jumped ship for more "attractive" spinoff egal minaynim such as Hadar and Darchei noam.
Despite its feature in the NYTIMES regarding KOE's hiring of a female ortho Rabbi, Dina Najman, (cleverly dubbed "Rosh Kehila") – which probably spawed the highly successful female scholar program at the ModOrth headquarters, The Jewish Center – the shul hasn't been jammed in a long long time.
This change in venue might finally make this oustanding minyan accessible to those who've had enough of the plastics at the Jewish Center and haven't found a place that's fits with their breed of orthodoxy anywhere else in the 80s/90s. check it.
