Chanukah is a time for eating latkes. Lotsa Latkes indeed. But how many can you actually eat in one sitting?
Pete Czerwinski consumed about seven pounds of latkes at Sunday Zan's in Lake Grove, NY. The Toronto bodybuilder says he's just “a power eater” whose brain never signals that he's full, according to the Long Island daily Newsday. Czerwinski — a 6-foot-2, muscle-packed Canadian — downed 46 latkes and was still licking applesauce from his stubble when the eight-minute contest ended.
Association of Independent Competitive Eaters Chairman Arnie Chapman says Czerwinski demolished the contest's previous record of 31 latkes, set in 2006. Brooklyn college student Will Millender took second place Sunday with 29 latkes.
